Fishy Fishy Wild and Free........
Waves hello this is my entry for the DecoArt Challenge Under the sea......... I have used Andy Skinners Ministry of Mixology Frame Kit.
I have added sea shells, cogs, a crown and jewels for all the creatures eyes. There are star fish even teeny tiny ones. I made the seaweed by painting a berry garland with the festive Green metallic Paint by Decoart
Even the shell i have tried to use weathered Wood with the titan buff as a top coat, it nearly worked :-)
Here are some of the pictures I can show you of the inside walls where the lights are fixed.
Finished with Lights on . |
I painted all 8 pieces with white Deco Art Gesso , I then used some stencils two of which were Andy's Whirlpool ans Tornado stenicls along with two others , I liked the fact that they reminded me of whirlpools in the water. I used Deco Arts textured Sand and the modeling paste thought the stencils to give the background depth.
The back plate and the center Middle frame were made using a host of deco Art Media Fluid Acrylics. These were used as washes and drops of rubbing Alcohol were used after each layer to create the Backgrounds.
Crab is stamped on tissue paper and glued onto a flat pebble from the beach . |
The frame was then stamped with one of Andy's Industrial background stamps with the metallic DecoArt acrylic White Pearl. The Boarders were edged with the Brilliant Turquoise and Elegant Emerald Metallic Lusters, but somewhere along the line i ended up going over it with the Metallic white Pearl Acrylic Paint.
I stamped the fishes , crab and octopus onto tissue paper and then used used a clear glue to adhere them either to the backgrounds or the stones I collected from the beach the week before. I used die cuts for the seahorse x 3 and stuck them together to get dimension. He is also stamped with the industrial background stamp in Metallic oyster white.
Seahorse |
The Main Frame is painted with a whole range of the Metallic colours festive green.teal, ice blue, white pearl and oyster pearl.I just kept adding colours until I was happy with it. It also has many layers of different lusters too Including the orange Flicker .but mainly silver spark as i think it gave it the kind of white water/breaking water look.
I've used some chains I've had laying around for ages to frame the boarders, I guess because it reminds me of two things the anchor chains and the big heavy metal chains you see going into the water sometimes .
Even the shell i have tried to use weathered Wood with the titan buff as a top coat, it nearly worked :-)
weathered wood seashell . |
Inside the frame you can see the lights look like seaweed though. |
